Melina Sandel is a UI/UX Designer from Long Island, New York working as an Interaction Design Intern at Allegion. She is a senior majoring in Digital Media and Design at the University of Connecticut with a concentration in Web/Interactive Media Design graduating in December 2024. Melina’s passion for Design started when her mom entered her into a Photography competition in second grade. The following year, she was introduced to Adobe Photoshop and has been captivated by Adobe Suite ever since. Melina found her passion for UX/UI Design in high school, being drawn to its blend of design and research. She has frequently been described as “inquisitive” which has drawn her to user research as it fulfills her innate curiosity of people.
Melina spent her summer interning at Allegion. She redesigned the User Interface of a Developer Portal, created Illustrations to incorporate into diagrams for the Developer Portal Documentation, and standardized the CSS used by the dev team to improve the handoff process. In the future, she hopes to work at a collaborative company where her UX/UI skills can shine.
In her free time, Melina enjoys reading celebrity memoirs, solving Rubik’s Cubes, and spending time with family.
